One of our patients came in for their routine cleaning and exam. During the exam it was discovered that the patient had hyperplasia oral mucosa, which is an enlargement of tissues due to certain stimulus. If the stimulus is removed, the lesion will regress back to normal. This patient was a smokeless tobacco chewer. After discussing the lesion with Dr and the effects of using smokeless tobacco, the patient proactively stopped usage of the tobacco product. He disposed of it in our office. Dr. Ohlsson encourages all his patients to discontinue the use of tobacco products. Doctor is following up with his patient and encouraging him to continue to stay away from the tobacco product!
